Hi Everyone, we have made a Google Slide presentation for you because we have been learning about how to make a difference for animals. We have also been learning about animal welfare. This Google Presentation will show you how the SPCA helps animals. They prevent cruelty to animals, they rescue animals, provide medical care and shelter, help animals find a new home, they seek justice for abused animals and also have education programmes. We have also shown people what to do if they find a lost or injured animal. I hope you listen to what we're trying to say and please help animals because they were made to love and care for so that's what we you should do. Thank you!

Endangered Animals By Solomon, Daiyaan and Joel

Our Google Slide presentation educates people about why we should not litter or cut down trees. Red pandas and tigers live in forests and when humans cut down trees they are destroying their habitat. People should be recycling plastic and not littering because it harms sea turtles. Humans are are killing tigers illegally which is bad and against the law.

Endangered Animals By Holli and Armani

We made this Google Slide to show people why kiwis and red pandas are endangered. One of the main reasons is because people are cutting down their habitats. We also wanted to tell people what they can do to help them.

Critically Endangered Sea Turtles by Ariyan and Harjovean

Our Pic Collage is about critically endangered sea turtles. Turtles are eating plastic and dying because people are littering plastic. Turtles think it is food and eat it, they can choke or it can make them feel full and they can starve to death. They can also get tangled in plastic and drown. We wanted to show people why it is important to recycle plastic and not litter.

Don't Litter Please, Our Sea Creatures are Dying! By Raina and Kley

We made this Google Slide Presentation to educate people and encourage them to stop littering and using plastic bags, instead they should fabric reusable bags. Many sea creatures are suffering because most people throw plastic away and they end up in our oceans. So let's start to work as a team and save our animals!

D3's Zoo Trip

D3 had a great time at the zoo and we learnt so much about how to make a difference for animals. Fraser took us into the NZCCM to learn about the different roles people at the zoo have caring for animals. People can watch animals being looked after by vets and they can watch animals having surgery too! After, Miss Mac took us to the tiger enclosure and told us lots of information about Tigers. We learnt that there are only 400 Sumatran Tigers left in the wild. Next, Sarah took us into the classroom and told us about behaviour enrichment. Auckland Zoo puts different objects around the enclosures to encourage natural behaviour and to get the animals to interact with their food and environment. Then, we explored the zoo and looked at the different animals.

SPCA Five Freedoms

D3 has been learning about animal welfare. We learnt about the SPCA Five Freedoms that all animals deserve.
They are:
Freedom from hunger and thirst
Freedom from discomfort
Freedom to express normal behavior
Freedom from fear and distress
Freedom from injury, pain and disease

Why are animals endangered?

This term our school inquiry focus is "Make a Difference". We have been learning about animal welfare and what we can do to make a difference to animals. D3 have been researching endangered animals. Endangered means when an animal is at risk of becoming extinct. We wanted to find out why animals are endangered.
